First Aid Guidelines for Dental Emergencies

If you suffer a dental injury, follow these immediate instructions before arriving at Noor Dental Clinic.

1. Knocked-Out Permanent Tooth

Keep the tooth moist! Do not touch the root surface. If possible, replace the tooth into the socket gently. If it cannot go back in, submerge it in a container of cold fresh milk or hold it inside your mouth between the cheek and gums. Seek treatment within 1 hour for optimal re-implantation results.

2. Cracked, Broken, or Fractured Tooth

Rinse your mouth immediately with warm water to cleanse the area. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your mouth or cheek to minimize facial swelling. Gather any broken tooth fragments, keep them in a clean container with saliva, and visit us immediately.

3. Severe Swelling or Abscess

A dental abscess is a localized pocket of pus caused by a bacterial infection in the root. This is a medical emergency that can lead to systemic infections. Do NOT attempt to pop or drain it. Rinse with mild warm salt water and seek same-day clinical treatment.

4. Dislodged Dental Crown or Bridge

If a custom crown slips off, preserve it. Try to dry the underlying tooth structure and coat the inside of the crown with temporary dental adhesive, petroleum jelly, or toothpaste, then press it back onto the tooth. Contact us to schedule permanent clinical re-cementation.
